Bryan Builders Takes a Swing at Home Building in a Recent Chicago Habitat for Humanity Build

Four Bryan Builders team members volunteered in a Chicago neighborhood on Thursday, September 14th to frame the 2nd floor walls on three units for a Habitat for Humanity project.  Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization that helps families build and improve places to call “home”. The organization provides affordable housing and organizes the sweat equity needed to build the project through a professional team of homebuilders, the homeowners themselves and a crew of volunteers.

Without the help of power tools, Bryan Builders team members used hammers and nails alongside other companies and a professional crew to work on the future homes of those in need of stable housing. Jen Pruett, one of the Bryan Builders volunteers, said, “It’s very rewarding seeing the hard work that goes into the build and how much progress we were able to make in such a short time there. The staff was extremely helpful and encouraged people to do things they may have never done before.”

“It is great seeing affordable housing go up in areas we are familiar with,” echoed Will Lui, another Bryan Builders volunteer. He continued, “It was also very rewarding to work with our team members around Chicago and getting to volunteer. I work as an accountant, so I think this was an exciting opportunity to learn more about construction hands on.”

Bryan Builders has worked with Habitat for Humanity in multiple areas across the United States.  The non-profit is near and dear to the team’s hearts as they continue to see the need for accessible housing in the areas in which they live and work. The team loved to actively give back improving the livelihood of Chicago families. Pruett summed up her thoughts about the day nicely saying, “Habitat Chicago was a wonderful experience, and I would love to participate again in the future.”
